Make and model number of the mouse wouldn't hurt...Did it come with a cd with drives and did you install the drivers?

    Try a different mouse?

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers. It sounds like they are not loading on a cold start for some reason.

Instead of rebooting, what happens if you unplug / replug the mouse (in a different USB port)?

Let's try the motherboard drivers next. Navigate to the manufacturers website and download / install the chipset drivers.

Might have to send the mobo back cause it sure sounds like the USB ports are bad.

Go to the Command Prompt (Start>Cmd), right-click and choose "Run as Administrator", then at the prompt type "Set devmgr show nonpresent devices=1" without the quotes. Once you've done that, go to Device Manager, and in the View menu, select "Show hidden devices". Then hunt down all instances of the mouse drivers and uninstall them. Then reboot the PC and try installing the drivers again.

Is it only the mouse that's freezing, or is anything else freezing as well?

It ran for 24 hours with many start up and shut downs. NO problem.
This morning it started it and had 5 freezes in 30 minutes randomly.
Not always on startup or on a particular program.
