    Also, while runnning Combofix, it started to prepare for scanning, then gave this message: COmbofix has detected the presence of rootkit activity and needs to reboot the machine. kindly note down on paper, the name of each file, we may need it later.

    The files were:
    C:\Windows\System32\ntos.exe
    C:\Windows\System32\oembois.exe
    C:\Windows\System32\twext.exe
    C:\Windows\System32\twex.exe
    C:\Windows\System32\sdra64.exe
    C:\Windows\System32\intel64.exe
    C:\Windows\System32\wsnpoema.exe

    After reboot, I logged in, then a black screen came up followed by Combofix opening on the screen. It scanned and then rebooted again.

    During Combofix, there were notices about items that could not be found. It asked if I wanted to resore them, but then couldn't. Some of them included
    system32\config\security and system32\config\registry.

    1. Please open Notepad
    • Click Start , then Run
    • Type notepad .exe in the Run Box.

    2. Now copy/paste the entire content of the codebox below into the Notepad window:

    Code:
    KillAll::

    File::
    c:\users\Michael\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\is-K2V7U.lnk
    c:\windows\system32\drivers\_AGP440.sys_.vir
    c:\windows\system32\drivers\00809203.sys

    Folder::
    c:\users\Michael\Documents\Michael's Folder =)\Virus Removal Tool

    Driver::

    Registry::

    RegLockDel::

    3. Save the above as CFScript.txt

    4. Then drag the CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe as depicted in the animation below. This will start ComboFix again.

    5. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), please post the following reports/logs into your next reply:
    • Combofix.txt
    • A new HijackThis log.

    When we dragged CFScript to Combofix, we got a dialog box from CA antivirus (which we forgot to disable), saying that combofix was an infected file, and the shortcut disappeared. Since then we have been unable to re-download combofix.

    CA should have been disabled while running Combofix. Please, pay close attention to my instructions.

    Uninstall Combofix:
    Go Start > Run [Vista users, go Start>"Start search"]
    Type in:
    Combofix /Uninstall
    Note the space between the "Combofix" and the "/Uninstall"
    Restart computer.

    Download fresh copy from HERE and re-run my script.
    Make sure, CA is disabled.
    I renamed Combofix file for a reason.

    There are no results when we try to find the combofix uninstall file. Should we just go ahead and download the fresh copy?

    After two hours combofix is still in initial scan mode and hasn't completed any stages. Suggestions?

    Stop the process.

    Uninstall Combofix:
    Go Start > Run [Vista users, go Start>"Start search"]
    Type in:
    Combofix /Uninstall
    Note the space between the "Combofix" and the "/Uninstall"
    Restart computer.

    Download OTL to your Desktop.

    * Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
    * Under the Custom Scan box paste this in:

    netsvcs
    %SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.exe
    %systemroot%\system32\eventlog.dll
    %systemroot%\system32\scecli.dll
    %systemroot%\netlogon.dll
    %systemroot%\system32\cngaudit.dll
    %systemroot%\system32\sceclt.dll
    %systemroot%\ntelogon.dll
    %systemroot%\system32\logevent.dll

    * Click the Quick Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
    • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows: OTL.txt and Extras.txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
    • Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files, one at a time, and post them back here.
      Since those are pretty big files, you can attach them, if you wish.

    We can't stop the process. It won't close, and we can't stop with task manager. Also can't restart. We'll do a forced shutdown unless you advise otherwise.

    Go ahead with hard shutdown.
