Would be great if you had some ideas to share. I am approaching the point where I will give up and reformat my disk. At the moment it is sitting on the desk awaiting a last desperate measure, if any should present itself...

I wish I could help you Jay. Basically the gentleman trying to help me has been having me use WinHex to examine the volume headers. Everything appears, to him, to be in good shape so it keeps coming down to operator error, i.e. I must be using the wrong password. I know that is not the case so I am left with essentially an external harddrive that is unusable. I can't access the data on it and unless I format the drive which will cause me to lose the data forever, I can't use the drive at all.
