Does the Backspace key work?
Do you have another keyboard that you could try temporarily?

Hi, yes the back space works ok (didn't think to try before) also I tried using another
keyboard and that has the same problem so the keyboards must be ok, unless both are
clapped out. I perhaps checked the wrong box somewhere but apart from that I
haven't a clue. Any info ideas much appreciated.

You might try uninstalling the Keyboard in Device Manager, then reboot. When Windows starts, it'll automatically set it up again.

I'm not sure what your problem is now. Both keyboards work the same and that seems right. Backspace does the job so use it. I've used nothing but the Backspace for around 20 years now.

I do not use backspace. I have always used the highlight button and delete or by placing the pointer and then deleting. Any problem that I have right now is that I will use backspace if I choose to, and not be forced to use it because I cannot get what must be a minor glitch sorted.
I uninstalled both keyboards but the problem remains.
My thanks to all for your help and assistance.
