    Can't get rid of AVG

Hi to all: Had it, up to here with AVG. Can't get rid of V8, either through its uninstall feature or via the add/remove feature. Tried some 3rd party uninstallers and no dice. HELP, please. No more of AVG. It's messin' up my machine. Just wants to hang on. Plan to go to Avast or one of the other recommended utilities. Much thanks for the "fix", Jim S

NIce piece of electronic ex lax

HI: Would have never found that routine. Slock as a whistle, and here was I about to go through the pains of doing a restore from offsite hard drive, etc. Will sleep better tonight, knowing I don't have to crank it up in the a.m., and tool around to get rid of AVG. Thanks to all, seems to be okay. If not, will post back, but for now, hurray, hurray! Jim S

    alternate virus/spyware utility

Hi: Tried to get the Avara program. Downloaded and ran okay, but could not get updates. Gave up! Checked the site and notes indicated that the server (s) were overloaded. Must be, since I left the unit run overnight and by a.m., the updates (rather large) were not installed. Tried again, and was able to get only about 1 to 10 Kb/s of doenload speed. Gave up, since if downloads take that much time, it's hardly worth putting the program on the hd. Thoughts? Much thanks, Jim S

Avira seems to have those problems once in a while.
    Go for Avast.
