Current group of ads on VDr
There seems to be at least one ad onthe VDr web pages that can cause IE6/7/8 to stop responding. I have experienced this on several computers at different locations. The only compuer that was not affected was one that was behind a firewall that blocks the ads. I just thought I would mention this, since another user was experiencing the same issue - see the link below:

We are currently trying to track down which advert it is, so far unsuccessfully.

tdark in the link posted by jdc2000 implies the problem is limited to IE8.
I wonder if either of these IE8 bugs might be the cause

The problem here wasn't limited to IE8...IE7 also had the same issue...Broswer would lock up tight and you had to end task on it.
The problem here was resolved over night..
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

I have not seen a recurrence of the problem since late last night. It looks like you found the flash ad that was causing the problem. Thanks for the speedy fix.

Well, the problem has returned periodically over the last 3 days. It may disappear for half a day, then it returns.

It is NOT spam. Spam is unsolicited, these Ads are a part of this site .

Actually, those ads pay for the site. Something to consider.

I don't mind the ads as long as they don't hang the browser. They are not very effective though if you never get to see them.

we've been working very hard to identify exactly which group of ads are the problem. We thought we had nailed it but then we realized it's more than one, or it must be more than one, because I think we've eliminated the one culprit we were aware of.

Thanks, JP. Everything seems to be working well again this morning. I hope it lasts. I'll let you know if it doesn't.
