[RESOLVED] I.E.8 tweak!?
Other versions when you clicked a link and the page didn't open to full size. You could use arrows at corners to drag it full size. Then hold Ctrl key down and close it with the 'X' at top right. When you clicked the link next time it would open full size.
Well guess what? with IE8 no luck. Tried it many times and no luck. Looked for answer all over the net with no luck.
Anyone know a tweak for this? Or are we just out of luck?
Running XP-Pro,sp3 btw and have tabbed browsing turned off...

In all versions - if you HOLD the CTRL while dragging the window to the size you want and still HOLDing the CTRL key - do File EXIT...Should help Windows remember the size.
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

Ridgerunr--This is the way I set IE windows to open in the size and location I want. However I do not use IE8, so maybe things have changed.
Open an IE window (mother window). Now open a second IE window as a New Window (child window).
Using the edges and corners of the child window, drag to size and location as you want it.
Now close the mother window.
Now close the child window. Some people say to hold down the Control or Shift key when you close it. I have not found that to be necessary. But it will not hurt anything.
The next time you open IE it should open in the size and location of the previous child window.

OK guys,,good to go now. Here's what happened. After the fresh install and after the upgrade to IE8. I fergot a very important step. You need to right click the IE icons both on the quick launch bar and on the "start"/ Programs" list you then go to properties at bottom of menu. On the window that comes up, on the "run" dropdown list, you change it from the default "normal Window" to "maximize" then 'apply/ok' out. Then you open the net and do the drag with arrows to full size, close with the 'X' while holdind the Ctrl key down. When you re-open the link it will be the size you dragged it to.
It may happen on another web site after, but you can do the same there and then all clicked links should open full...
Thanks for your help just the same Guys!

Ridgerunr--
you change it from the default "normal Window" to "maximize" then 'apply/ok' out. Then you open the net and do the drag with arrows to full size
Unless IE8 is again different, a Maximized IE window cannot be moved or have its dimensions changed. Maximized windows show one squared superimposed on top of another in the little ico next to the redX (for Close) at the top right. A window that fills the screen is not necessarily Maximized. Its icon is just one square.

Didn't explain it well enough Jim. After you do the normal to max size on the menu's. When you click a link on a web site, you will probably get a small window. If you then do the stretch it out thing and close with the 'X'/Ctrl key. When you click it again it will open to the size you stretched it to. No, it is still not a 'maximized' window per se,and the size box next to the minimize and 'X' box only shows 1 square and not 2. But if you don't do the 'normal' to 'maximized' thing from the IE icons(small ones) the windows you stretch will only stay that way until you close them. But if you 'do' the menu thing, then all link windows should open to the adjusted size from then on...
