    Resolved [RESOLVED] 20g HD millenium,win 98

I have a spare drive which is set as slave with the above 2x OS on. It did have partition magic looking after the 2x OS before the Pc popped. The drive works fine 12g for Millenium and the rest on win98. This disc is recognised by xp as E: Millenium. finally..Is there any way I could totally reformat this disc to get it back to 20g . riding roughshod over Win98.. I would like to put Linux on this drive. thanks

During the Linux install, you could delete all partitions.

If you want to wipe the drive, I usually use DBAN or Killdisk. Either one is on UBCD. Link is in my sig.

Click on Start->Run and type: Diskmgmt.msc

Find the dirve - right click on it and select Remove Partition...then righ click again and Create Partition.

** Be carefull to select the correct drive

Someone types faster then I do.

Great information. I have deleted the partition which was win 98 created the partition and reformatted it to FAT32 for Linux. I can see C: not touching this drive obmiously. So I have F: 6.86 refomatted and E: Millenium 12.22 not touched yet what should I do next.

On the Top Part of Disk management - Are drives E & F on the same DISK? If so - then zap away.

Looking good..I have C: untouched with XP ..Leave alone careful.
F:and E: are showing as 2 formatted partitions on same drive. How do I combine F and E.

You remove both partitions and then create one big one...via Disk Management

Steve R Jones, Excellent, I have done just as you said and it shows as disc E: 20.479. ready for Linux but that will be tomorrow. (football ManUnited ) Once again you have sorted me out.. I will write the command and steps into my "useful" folder.
    Many thanks.
