HOT DAMN .... I HIT THE BUTTON
well it took me a couple days to get up the nerve to hit the damn button ... after reading all the problems people were having with HP products on the hp support forums I just couldn't bring myself to have a million and one problems to solve especially since HP isn't offering windows 7 support for this laptop which is only 18 months old .... since SuperSparks and Train both said go ahead hit the button I finally did it tonight .... and everything went great ...
so here I am with the windows 7 RC installed and providing it doesn't give me any problems I'll be purchasing the retail version and saying goodbye forever to VISTA ....
thanks to everyone who helped me in my previous thread ...

thanks Train ... if it wasn't for all the problems people were having on the HP forums I would have hit the button sooner ... I can't believe the problems people are having with HP products ... everything from blue screens, failed bios's and a complete lack of drivers .... HP decided they were only supporting their new products for windows 7 and alot of the new products are crashing like crazy ... I plan on running the RC for a bit just to make sure everything is okay and then I will completely destroy the hard drive and get rid of the vista partition and install the retail version of windows 7 ...
with the way my luck goes with HP products I was expecting the damn laptop to start smoking and blow up while I was doing the installation ....
I've got 4 gigs of ram so when I am ready to purchase windows 7 should I go with the 64 bit version ...
thanks again for all your help and encouragement ...

thanks SuperSparks ... I am up and running and I no longer have anything to do with HP on my laptop ... when I am ready to purchase windows 7 should I go with the 32 bit or 64 bit .... I have 4 gigs of ram in the laptop and it is
64 bit compatible ... if you do suggest the 64bit will I have problems with software ....

Actually, 64-bit would be future proofing as more programs get written.

Train .. so I guess you are suggesting 64bit ... which is what I was considering doing ... do most programs work with the 64bit ... I can't live without
Photoshop ...

Wait...wait...wait.........WHICH button did you push?? If it was that funny-looking squarish yet also roundish button with the blue-gray font, then I will need to call NORAD and tell them to "disregard"....

32 bit works with 64 bit , just fine. From what I have seen, very few do not work and Photoshop was NOT one that came up as not working.

thanks Train ... something for me to consider ... since Vista is now gone, I may as well go for it ... I still can't get over the difference in speed ... I knew there would be a difference, but to what extent I didn't know ... and its also nice to have no preloaded HP crap on the laptop too ! .... the only thing left to get rid of is the recovery partition which I left intact, since I wasn't sure how the laptop would react to windows 7 ....

Sure surprising how a computer acts when the garbage disappears.

The latest version of Photoshop (CS4), installs both 64-bit and/or 32-bit, if you plan on upgrading. Th 64-bit version should give impressive performance, though I have to say that I haven't found anything to do to really test it yet. But it shows that 64-bit apps are starting to come now
