thanks SuperSparks and I am going to go ahead and install it .... but, remember your motherboard is less than a year old, the laptop is 18 months old and its made by HP ... hopefully win7 will have the chipset drivers since it is telling me that there is an UPGRADE AVAILABLE .... it would be so much better if it said INCOMPATIBLE, that I understand .... and even better if it said visit the windows 7 update site ... but NO, just UPGRADE AVAILABLE ....
I still can't get over that I installed the RC on a computer that was made in 2004 and the RC installed great, no problems ... I will let you know what happens and if you have any other suggestions that would be great .... guess I will just have to ignore what I have read on the other sites about the same problem and keep my fingers crossed that all goes well .... do you have any idea why the beta version of the upgrade advisor didn't make mention of this ...

SteveRJones ... I would sooner spend my money on a great big hammer to hit this thing with, even though another hard drive is a good idea ... but, as SuperSparks says, where is the sense of adventure or terror ! ....

Train ... all I have right now is the Win7 RC ... and its the upgrade advisor telling me about this damn nforce system management controller ... could it really be possible that its mistaken, SuperSparks said not to base everything on it ... is it possible that the drivers would be on the RC ... I don't want to purchase a final copy of Win7 until I know everything will work ... and since I am gonna be brave and hit a button before the end of the night are you a betting man ??? this could be better than betting at the race track

I would have alread done hit the go button.
    Yes, I would do it.

My antique has a 2500 Barton and GF 2 video card plus it only have 768MB of ram.

Advisor squaled big time, but it installed right nicely as a custom upgrade. Works right spiffy to.

Train ... are you serious ???? ..... I am planning on doing it as a CLEAN INSTALL to test it .... you said the advisor squaled big time, and all the issues were solved ????

I guess I'm just concerned because I've stumbled across other posts about this issue with windows 7 already installed ... and its probably not a good idea to download drivers from other sites like this, is it ???

thanks again .... I kind of figured that .... do you have any idea of where I might possibly find a driver for this just in case I do need it ... I have a gut feeling I am going to have trouble, just from what I have read about this stupid chipset driver nvidia nforce 630m .... keep your fingers crossed that win7 does find it ....

I have an ACER X1300 desktop. I was receiving the same message about the same driver. I used DriverMax to update the driver to the latest version - 5.1.2600.171. I still received the same message in Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. I decided to proceed with the upgrade to Windows 7 anyway. It went off without a hitch. No problem whatsoever. Go for it!
