[RESOLVED] Logitech mouse/keyboard issue
I have a fairly new desktop PC and have the Logitech wireless Elite Duo keyboard/mouse combo. I run Win XP Pro, 4 gigs RAM, 360 gig HD, etc.. We just had a storm here in SF Bay Area and the power went out for about 30 seconds. When the power came back up, everything on my system was fine EXCEPT that the mouse will not function. I changed the batteries, hit the connect button on the sending unit, and pushed the connect button on the mouse and no matter what I do, it will not work. I've never had a problem with it and am baffled.
Fortunately, I had a spare Logitech wireless mouse and sending unit, which is what I'm using now. Am wondering if any of you have any ideas here? It's obviously not a battery issue and the keyboard works fine..
Stumped in San Francisco..
Thanks.

Have you tried it on another pc?
Did you try it in a different USB port?
Electrical things can and do die....
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

Try uninstalling the mouse drivers from Device Manager, then reboot the PC and reinstall them.

OK.. here's the question.. If I remove the mouse drivers that installed when I plugged in the extra wireless mouse, then it won't work. When I reboot since the mouse that came with the keyboard isn't responding, how do I install the drivers without installing the other mouse? Seems pretty challenging without a wired mouse to use. (the other wireless mouse I have is also a Logitech)

Windows will always leave you with basic mouse functionality. So my advice would be to remove all the Logitech mouse drivers that you can find. If you can't find the original drivers, do this:
Fire up Regedit, then in
HK_Local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment
Create new String Key "DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES", then give the key a value of 1. Reboot the PC.
After that, go into Device Manager and in the View menu, select "Show hidden devices", and you will be able to see all old and rogue entries. Uninstall any that you find for the USB system and then reboot the PC again.
