A better UAC for Vista / Windows 7
You might want to try this tool from Norton
http://www.symantec.com/norton...e&header=0&depthpath=0
http://www.symantec.com/norton...c&header=0&depthpath=0
that is a FREE Tool from Norton, which replaces the built in UAC
with a better one, which does have a White List Feature ... and there are no special tricks to let a program run.
(posting in Vista & Windows 7 section so both OS users can find it)

I don't use UAC, and I surely stay very far away from Norton.

There really is no need to replace the Windows 7 UAC, it is a vast improvement on Vista, and I haven't been irritated by it in the slightest.
And I'm with Broni as far as Norton is concerned - it definitely sounds like a case of out of the frying pan and into the fire to me
Nick.

I may take a look at it on my test Win7 installation.

See the August 2009 issue of PC World. On page 78 is an article about how to make Vista perform more like Win7 under "Less bothersome User Account Control". It basically says what SuperSparks said --probably no need for Norton in Win7. But may help Vista.
