    cannot repair member files

I'm still trying to resolve the neighbor's startup problem on her new (couple months ol) laptop w/Vista.

She was getting a message: "Failed to connect to a windows service... Group Policy Service... and something about a System Event Log" I googled this and a suggestion was to run SFC /SCANNOW from a command prompt. I rebooted to safe mode and ran the command. It said to review Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.Log for files that could not be repaired.
    It identified:
    gulim.ttc
    settings.ini of MS sidebar
    mfc80u.dll
    mfc80.dll
    i386 \ mxdwdrv.dll

is there an easy way to restore / repair these files or am I better off just reloading Vista?

    thanks again!

    Anything?

    (before I resort to a complete re-install)

A repair install should do it.

But it seems the errors are tied to fonts, this might work.

And people wonder why I got a OEM Vista so I could get away from the factory restore cds.
