    VSMON & ZoneAlarm

I've narrowed down a problem to ZoneAlarm. Whenever I shutdown I get an error; VSMON caused a GPF..... etc, etc.

I closed one app at a time 3 times and it's always ZoneAlarm. I've search ZoneAlarms FAQ's but no mention. I never had the problem with Ver 2.4 but now with a clean install of 2.6 it's there.

I also run it on a NT and a 95B machine and the only one this is effecting is the 98SE.

Has anyone else experience the same or similar problem?

"Clean install", meaning you did an uninstall first?
You may want to do another uninstall, then check that the files in this link are actually gone. And rename any that are left over.

Totally clean install. The machine was completely wiped and rebuilt. I'll try to re-install after checking to see that the file isn't corrupt or missing.

    Thanks for the link WhitPhil.

Well results for those who may face this. I uninstalled ZA 2.6 and re-installed the older 2.1.44. The problem is gone and before you say it I re-installed 2.6 first and had the same problem so I have to assume there's a bug in 2.6 at least with my configuration.

You're not the only one. There are a LOT of problems with the 2.6. Memory leaks, TrueVector not loading, blue screens, apps being blocked without a reason.
I had no problems with the 2.1.44, and used it together with Norton Internet Security.
Upgraded to the 2.6 (also after completely uninstalling ZA, AND removing all mention of any remaining ZA vxd's in the registry, and I had nothing but trouble. For a start, it didn't get along with NIS at all, giving me a fatal exception OE in vxd Pppmac at startup. Cured that by making NIS start from the startup folder, instead of from the registry. But then I started getting one blue screen after another (FE in vxd NDIS, etc.) I removed ZA, and am now working with NIS only. No more problems, and my system never worked so well.
I recommend Sygate, Tiny, or NIS, but forget about ZA 2.6, at least for now...

    Hi:

I am running 2.6.88 and have found it to have a smaller footprint than any of the previous versions. It does exactly what it is designed to do and has presented absolutely no problems at all.

    Aren't I the lucky one?
