    Goggle Chrome

Any comments on the google chrome browser? Good or bad. Just wondering since I have noticed some sites say they will no longer support IE 6 and that they will support IE8, Fox Fire, or Google Chrome.

Hi, I have used it since the "beta" days. It is my main browser, I like it's speed I cannot vouch for it's security credentials as this is not a concern on this system. You have most of the features of other browsers though internet banking and some sites still require IE. If there is a faster browser I have yet to see it... though as I say security is not an issue for me.

In general, it quite good. Lightning fast on rendering pages.

That said, there are some users that have some concerns with it's default setup, including me. So I choose to run Iron instead of Chrome. Iron is made from the same "engine" as Chrome. Here is a table from Iron that explains the difference. http://www.srware.net/en/software_sr...me_vs_iron.php

Does it take over your systme, so to speak, like the google tool bar used to do? I had it for a long time but then one of the updates actually caused me to loos connectivity to a lot of sites, including vdr and lurkhere. After uninstalling it never had another problem so I know it was the tool bar.

Chrome is fast, but I like the customizations in Firefox.

I don't think that Chrome takes over your system, but I haven't done exhaustive testing. I don't see any Chrome processes running at startup or in the background.

The only thing that runs all the time is the Google Updater service. Nothing from Chrome itself runs all the time.

i have been using it for a while and like it a lot, it needs a google toolbar, although all you have to do is type your search in the address bar

Thanks, that is kind of what I wanted to know. It needs the google tool bar. Although I do use google, I gave up on the toolbar a long time ago. It caused me all kinds of problems.

I've got only two issues with Google Chrome: 1) sometimes the Flash plugin in the AJAX-loaded Facebook freezes, and 2) almost everything you do in this browser goes through Google. Type a link wrong? Google suggest a correction. Got a link right? Google knows about it, and prepares the right ads for you. So I have just switched to SRWare Iron, another browser based on Chromium which looks and works exactly the same as Google Chrome, but without all the Big Brother stuff. Now the pain is to transfer all passwords saved... *sigh*

How about the other stuff you can't control in Chrome?
