[RESOLVED] Daughters Computer AGAIN!

Hello.
Big red warning message on desktop along with "system security version 4.52" scanning. Avira was disabled and windows firewall was turned off.

I ran Superantispyware in safe mode, and could only run Malwarebytes in safe mode.

If you could be so kind as to review the logs please.

On a side note, I have the same setup on my computer as my daughter. Avira antivirus, and windows firewall. I don't seem to have the problems with spyware that she has. The only difference I can see is she has a dsl modem and I have fios internet which has router protection built in. So I installed the PCTools firewall plus on her computer (After all the scans were done).

Please download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.

**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**

1. Please, never rename Combofix unless instructed.
2. Close any open browsers.
3. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
   
   • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
   • Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.
   
   
   • Close any open browsers.
   • WARNING: Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet as soon as it starts
   • Please do not attempt to re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished.
   • If there is no internet connection after running Combofix, then restart your computer to restore back your connection.
4. Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
5. When finished, it will produce a report for you.
6. Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review.

**Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall**

Make sure, you re-enable your security programs, when you're done with Combofix.

Download Dr.Web CureIt to the desktop:

• Doubleclick the drweb-cureit.exe file and Allow to run the express scan
• This will scan the files currently running in memory and when something is found, click the Yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it. This is only a short scan.
• Once the short scan has finished, mark the drives that you want to scan.
• Select all drives. A red dot shows which drives have been chosen.
• Click the green arrow at the right, and the scan will start.
• Click Yes to all if it asks if you want to cure/move the file.
• When the scan has finished, in the menu, click File and choose Save report list
• Save the report to your desktop. The report will be called DrWeb.csv
• Close Dr.Web Cureit.
• Important! Reboot your computer because it could be possible that files in use will be moved/deleted during reboot.
• Copy and paste that log in the next reply. You can use Notepad to open the DrWeb.cvs report.

Uninstall Combofix:

Go Start > Run
Type in:
combofix /u
Note the space between the "combofix" and the "/u"
Restart computer.

Please, update Malwarebytes, and attempt to run it it normal mode.
Post the log.

I must have deleted combo fix manually because when I tried to uninstall it, windows couldn't find it. So I searched files and folders for combofix and deleted what it found. Also when I was running malwarebytes, avira found 2 trojans --GoogletoolbarUser.exe and GoogleToolbarUser_FCDD4C5F33EE80C.exe which I deleted thru avira. I don't know if this is related or not but yesterday and today, after running DrWeb Cureit, The internet has been really slow. It took about 8 minutes to load virtualdr home page.

The internet has been really slow

An infection plus curing process sometimes causes it.
Let me check HJT log, then we do final cleaning, and we'll see how it goes.

Print this post out, since you won't have an access to it, at some point.

1. Open HijackThis.

2. Close all windows, except for HijackThis.

3. Put checkmarks next to the following HijackThis entries:

- nothing malicious

4. You may also checkmark following entries (these are unnecessary startups; no actual programs will be removed):

- O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [nwiz] nwiz.exe /install
- O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NvCplDaemon] RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup
- O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\jusched.exe"

Your computer is clean

1. Download Temp File Cleaner (TFC)
Double click on TFC.exe to run the program.
Click on Start button to begin cleaning process.
TFC will close all running programs, and it may ask you to restart computer.

2. Turn off System Restore:

- Windows XP:
1. Click Start.
2. Right-click the My Computer icon, and then click Properties.
3. Click the System Restore tab.
4. Check "Turn off System Restore".
5. Click Apply.
6. When turning off System Restore, the existing restore points will be deleted. Click Yes to do this.
7. Click OK.
- Windows Vista:
1. Click Start.
2. Right-click the Computer icon, and then click Properties.
3. Click on System Protection under the Tasks column on the left side
4. Click on Continue on the "User Account Control" window that pops up
5. Under the System Protection tab, find Available Disks
6. Uncheck the box for any drive you wish to disable system restore on (in most cases, drive "C:")
7. When turning off System Restore, the existing restore points will be deleted. Click "Turn System Restore Off" on the popup window to do this.
8. Click OK

3. Restart computer.

4. Turn System Restore on.

5. Make sure, Windows Updates are current.

6. If any Trojan was listed among your infection(s), make sure, you change all of your on-line important passwords (bank account(s), secured web sites, etc.) immediately!

7. Download, and install WOT (Web OF Trust): http://www.mywot.com/. It'll warn you (in most cases) about dangerous web sites.

8. Run defrag at your convenience.

My daughter says everything is running smoothly.
FYI.. Using PCTools firewall, When I unchecked settings > filtering > Enable Enhanced Security Verification, The Internet started working as it should. I got this from the PCTools Forum.
Also, I changed her dsl modem from no security to medium security. Maybe that will prevent things getting into her computer.
