Delay Letter Recognition When Typing in Explorer

    Hello,
I'm not exactly sure how to phrase this or if this is the correct fofum. I am using Windows XP Professional. I have certain folders that have ALOT of subfolders. I used to be able to start typing the name of one of the subfolders and it would go to that folder. Now for some reason if I start typing F then E it will go to the folders starting with F then go to the folders starting with E. I want it to go to the folder starting with FE. The one exception is if I type it EXTREMELY fast then it will go to FE. Is there a way to change the time it recognizes when typing these names. If it is more then 2 or 3 letters I want to type I can not type fast enough for it to recognize it. Hope this makes sense.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Where are you typing the "FE" - Windows Explorer? Does the "F" remain after you type the "E", or is it being replaced?

Did you check Accessibility Options for the keyboard in Control Panel?
    Have you tried another keyboard?

This happens in Windows Explorer as well as when opening a document. For instance starting Word then clicking Open and browsing to a folder.
Generally if you type F and then E it will go to F for a second or two then delay and go to E rather then going to the folder with FE.
We have tried another keyboard with no success. What should I be changing in the Accessibility Options for the keyboard?
