    Every 100th time you're closing Outlook Express it will ask you to compress folders.
    This is by default. Deleting messages will not help.
    If you're not opening Outlook Express 100 times a day something is not right here.
    This *could* be a fix:
    Close Outlook Express.
    Click Start | Run and type in regedit.
    Scroll to this key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities\GUID\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express\5.0
    GUID is a key which looks like {1E962EAD-93BF-496C-9918-1E8038BDA71D}
    In the right-hand pane, double-click "Compact Check Count", then change the value to 1.
    Each time you close Outlook Express this value will increase by one until it reaches 100, then it will ask you to compress folders again.

    kspeel--I strongly support Compacting, but if you are being asked to compact everyday, something is wrong. Another program is accessing Outlook Express in the background and that raises the number of openings. Process Explorer may help you find out which program.
