MS Updates
I was wondering, I have my comp (XP) set up to install/update every night at 11pm.
However, I think my OS AUTOmatically checks for updates regardless (as long as it's still on)....because today, I all of a sudden saw it downloading updates (11 of them) today around 3 pm EST.
Why is it doing it at that time, when I scheduled my computer to do it every day at 11pm?

My take on this is that the time really refers to the installation time, not the download time. I don't know the answer for sure because I run Windows Update mostly as a manual procedure...

Well, if you go to the CP...I just click the Recommended scheduling event.

Even if you have a scheduled time for M$ updates set up, your OS will still helpfully check for and download them whenever you are online, unless you have them turned off completely or set to download manually.

hambone2--Are you using the Security Center setting "Download Updates but let me choose when to install"? That means you would need to schedule the two different actions.
