security setup
Hi
I use comodo firewall, avast antivirus, spybot s&d, ad-aware and spywareblaster. To keep crap clean i use ccleaner. I have been using this setup for a while now and am slightly less than satisfied, especially with avast. At first i thought avast was really good but quite often when i run a scan it finds something despite the on access protection.
I'm curious as to any comments and suggestions
Thanks

Need to ditch Ad-aware and go to SuperAntiSpyware.
I use the free version of Avira for AV protection.
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

What is Avast finding on manual scans that real-time doesn't find? ALL AV's manual scanners go deeper and can find more than their real-time counterparts. The question is, what are the differences and are they something to be concerned about...

If you like, you can use the Comodo suite. It has AV and Spyware progs.
Personally,I prefer Comodo firewall only and use the pay-for CA Antivirus along with Malware bytes,SuperAntiSpyware and SpywareBlaster along with a router with NAT. Only baddies that get through are a few tracking cookies and those are easily booted off...
Stupid question? No such thing!

Thanks for the suggestions. I downloaded malwarebytes and superantispyware and removed ad-aware so i now have comodo firewall, avast, malwarebytes, spybot and superantispyware. Curiously i ran avast full scan and it found nothing. Next day i ran malwarebytes full scan and it found 2 nasties. I've been burned before by paying for software that "found" lots of things. Turned out that these things didn't really exist. It was one of those "free to scan but pay to fix" kind of trials.

Spybot should go as well.
I use different combination of free AV/firewall on different Windows installations, and I never had any single infection.
I even go to THOSE ( ) sites....hehehehe
