[RESOLVED] Comodo and SafeSurf
I saw on another board messages downplaying these two free apps. to the extent that Comodo was "condoning" the use of Adware/Malware. No where else have I seen or read anything bad about Comodo but instead applauding what it does so well. Any comments folks? As usual, TIA.

Well if they're complaining about Comodo packing the ask toobar then I do find it troubling. There is the option to not install it when you do run the install pack but it's opt out not opt in so you have to have your eyes open.
I still choose to use Comodo because it's a good firewall but I disagree with their methods to raise capital, which is why I assume they've bundled the toolbar with their product.
As far as how much of a danger the toolbar is.. probably not much. More of a privacy concern than security since it could keep track of where you go through it via cookies etc.
If you search the comodo forums for "ask toolbar" you'll get lots of input.

Thanks fink. I didn't think to throw in the Ask Toolbar but that wasn't mentioned in the trashing I read, I don't think. Anyway, I don't have it installed but I do have SafeSurf running with Comodo on one of my machines but not on another and without any problems. This freebie does not cause me any problems either; except during its learning stages.
