disable driver signing
I have windows vista 64bit and Windows 7 64bit installed on separate drives. I want to disable driver signing so that I can install AtiTool as Vista will not allow it.
When I press f8 on startup, I can select the option, but it boots into Windows 7. I want it to boot to Vista.
How can I make it boot to Vista?
Windows 7 is the first listed in the boot menu.

Why not disconnect the Win7 drive to force a Vista boot? It should work, but it might be a pain to do so...or disable the drive in the BIOS temporarily.

Thanks guys. Neither of those will work for me. I am trying to install AtiTool and it will not allow the driver to be installed .
Not happy.

What exactly happens, when you try?

Both programs allegedly 'fixed' it, but when I try to install AtiTool, I still get the popup asking if I should go ahead and install the unsigned driver. I select yes and the install goes ahead and finishes.
When I attempt to run AtoTool, I get an error that the kernel driver has not started, or some such message.
I'm at work atm, so if you want the correct error message, I will post it later .
Suffice to say that I get the exact same error after running those two programs as before.
I have read that with SP1 on Vista, they included a patch to prevent end users from changing those permissions. It seems to work

I'm using ReadyDriver Plus on Vista with SP1, and it works fine.
I still get the popup asking if I should go ahead and install the unsigned driver
Do you have UAC on?

I've been reading around the net that this particular problem is peculiar to the 64bit system.

Yes, 64-bit requires driver signing, while 32-bit doesn't.
What version of ATItool are you using? 2.7 b4 is the latest I've seen.

Trying the latest final. 0.26 I think.
If the beta does not have driver signing though, I'm in the same boat. Thanks for the link though. I will try it when I get home from work .

.26 is way old.
From the .27 b4 notes:
What's New in This Release: [ read full changelog ]
· Full Vista and XP64 support
· Support for all ATI RV6xx ASICs
· No changes to R600 support in this build
· Better support for multiple adapters
· Latest NVIDIA non-WHQL drivers with some G8x cards not supported
· Better handling of clock step sizes
· Fixed vertex/pixel/unified shader reporting
· Added detection for about 20 older and newer ATI ASICs
· Fixed crash on X1950 and similar GPUs
· HD2900 can now switch to 3D clocks again

Still too outdated for my card , although at least it installed ok.
Am trying to get some software with a fan control on it. This HIS IceQ+ cooler fan sounds like a Harrier jump jet at take off at anything over 50% speed.
If I cannot find anything that works though, I might just add it into my water cooling loop.
I have tried Rivatuner and cannot get that to work either. Probably because it's nvidia oriented.
