Well, I was wrong in my figures. I started the download at 1:45am and it's down to 25 minutes left. Can't figure out why Microsoft was state (PST) if that wasn't going to be a factor.

1 hour 15 minutes to download. That's much better than the beta download was, that took 7 hours.

I believe it was put up a bit early. Everyone should be able to get it now.

Well, that must explain it Nick.

Mine's installed, and running nicely. Now if I could just figure out where they put all those controls....

Btw, the RC picked up my IDE drive so now that is fixed. They must have gotten feedback about this situation from others.

That is interesting....I have mixed feeling about it...

Just when we thought Microsoft was getting uncharacteristically generous, we got this nasty surprise: that free Windows 7 release candidate Microsoft is giving away to everyone today has a nasty time bomb ticking inside it. Beginning on March 1, 2010, the operating system will begin shutting down every two hours. If you're using one of the beta versions of Windows 7, the hourly shutdown game starts much sooner, on July 1, 2009.
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

I don't have any issues with that myself, all betas are time-limited, and doing that does at least give the opportunity to rescue any data.

For some people I've seen complaining about their system problems, the computer shutting down every two hours might seem normal.

I tried to download the dang thang, but the RC Window just sits there....no download. I waited for 15 minutes the other night with no joy. I'll probably just wait for the official release.

Lots of folks hitting it and it will not pick up the download.

Took 3 X to get it started over 2 days.

Then it it was running at about 90K when I walked off.

I have it installed. Files went to windows old same as it did with vista.
Taskbar auto hide still does work all the time.
Winfast pvr works now, it didn't with 7 beta.
    Nero 7 won't install.
    Everything else is faster.

Got to say I'm really loving Windows 7

I have installed it on my Sammy nc10 and it performs better than XP. I have the 64-bit version installed as a virtual machine on my main rig.

It's really smooth, with no crashes.

I will be testing some programs first and if all goes well I may install it as a dual boot on my desktop.

    I can't wait till it's released.

Also having firefox personas installed too makes browsing a joy

    Just lightweight themes for firefox.

Sort off blends well with my current desktop theme.

That may be all that is there Freddy. Just the boot option.

Did you actually see any of the beta files on the computer?
