Suggestions for AV and Firewall
It is getting time for me to decide which security programs to run as my Kaspersky Internet Security license is about to expire. I have been running KIS since version 6.0 and have been happy with it except for the renewal. I found it was cheaper to purchase a new CD of the program through Amazon then to renew through Kaspersky.
Anyway, I was thinking of saving a few $$ by using Avast or Avira with maybe Online Armor Personal Firewall or Comodo Firewall. Any opinions on these ?
Also I see that Comodo can come with an anti-virus. Is this bundle any good?
Thanks for your suggestions.

I like my current combo of Avast and Comodo. Avira is a good sub too.
I"m not convinced the Comodo a/v is good enough yet... it's a work in progress.

Avira is a solid freebie, but it lacks local email protection. If you use webmail, then that's not an issue.
Comodo FW or Online Armor would be fine.

On different Windows, I use:
- Avast + Comodo (firewall)
- Avira + Comodo (firewall)
- Comodo Internet Security (AV + firewall)
All three settings work well.

Thanks for the input.
I decided to go with Avast and Online Armor Personal Firewall bundled with a-squared free. So far so good while I get familiar with the programs and their interfaces.

I read an article in PC World just today that the Online Arnor Personal FW is far less bothersome than Comodo FW. If it is, that would be a bonus for Online Armor users. I have used, and continue to use, the free Comodo without ever a problem but it does have it's "learning stages".

That's absolutely true. But when I test drove OA, it would sometimes forget some settings and 2 or 3 times a week it would blue screen crash on me. The current version is one version and several builds past what I tried and I don't see many complaints about OA. So I assume it runs pretty well for most users. But since trying and switching to Comodo FW, I have never had a crash... at all.

I use OAP on one XP installation without any serious problems, except for what Han just said - forgetting some settings. Comodo used to have same problem with ver. 2.

I have been using Windows a lot less now that I am running Ubuntu. For that reason I am expecting that I will not have the problems with Online Armor that some people have reported.
