Sheilded monitors and keyboards that are TEMPEST certified are available, but pricey.

TEMPEST shielding hides the electromagnetic emanations from equipment. This method detects vibrations in the computer case. I doubt that TEMPEST shielding would help.

Dont they sniff the traffic from the air?
If it was not emitting any RF,they might not be able to pick it up...

The laser method is line-of-sight only, and fairly easily blocked.

Line-of-sight on the laptop is needed, but it works through a glass window, they said. Using an infrared laser would prevent a victim from knowing they were being spied on.
Walls should work nicely to stop them.

Or lay a newspaper/magazine across the case while you type sensitive info.
TEMPEST I ignore, but this technique is cheap enough to implement that I might take precautions when surfing in a public place.

Probably even think twice about even taking the laptop out of the case.
