    Question All fonts are italic!

    Hi.

I defragmented my harddrive, and then restarted my pc.

After that all of my system's fonts took italic style.

In a notepad(in "Font...", theres only italic and bold italic), internet browser, even when the message of windows starting up, it's all italic.

How do I solve this problem?

    Thx

Or you could run the System File Checker. Get your WinXP CD handy, then go to Start>Run and type "sfc /scannow" without the quotes (you don't get any report from the System File Checker, it just silently replaces and corrupt or missing system files that it finds).

    ztein--A couple of ideas:
    1) Is your Arial font working? If not perhaps you have somehow or other deleted it. Reinstall it.
    2) Use TweakUI. Click Repair in left panel, chose Repair Font Folder from drop down list in right panelRepair Now|Apply|OK.

You chose "Repair Font Folder" when you clicked repair, right?

The default XP font is Tahoma. Maybe yours got corrupted. Did you try different font in control panel - display - appearance - advanced?

You did chose 'Repair Font Folder' in TweakUI?
You might try Fix Fonts Folder. I never used it, so at your own risk.

To get new textdocument back in the contextmenu download text.txt, rename it to text.reg and doubleclick to merge in the registry.

Now the system doesn't boot? Do you have a floppy or usb drive plugged in? if so, remove them.

A defrag should not have messed up your system this much. Did you run a hard drive diag?

If you don't have an OS disc, do you at least have recovery discs?

    -Thanks I'll try it.

-No system does boot perfectly, I am able to access my OS and other stuff like I normally do, its the OS cd that doesnt want to boot so I can repair the Windows.
-No usbs or floppies are in(I don't have a floppy drive "=)")
-Even so, after the defrag these problems started to occur.
    -Recovery disc, I don't know(probably not).

Yep, I was able to fix it.

DeP's post with text.txt(which also fixed the notepad appearence in "New") and the FixFont tool worked perfectly.

Though the program said that some things weren't fixed, but at least now everything is back to normal.

    Thanks.
