Fix If Microsoft / Windows Updates Shortcuts Do Not Work
A heads up for all out there:
If you have installed IE8 you will find the Windows Update
and Microsoft Update shortcuts on the Start Menu will not
work. The workaround is to go into IE8 and Microsoft.com
to run in Compatability Mode .. You would expect (not)
that of all companies, Microsoft would make their own
browser work with their update programs.

I open IE 8 from the Quick Launch,
Go to tools and select Windows updates, and it work just fine.
I use that route as FF is my primary browser.

That is one way and my Start Menu shortcuts used to work until IE8 went in.
Simply adding microsoft.com to IE8's compatability list fixed it.

I'm sticking with IE 7 for now. IE 8 still has too many bugs . . . like the one you mention.

Odd thing about IE8 is MS has released it as a final build. So it may be the browser's fault or it may be website coding that is not yet set up to work with IE8 .. But you would have expected that Windows and
Microsoft update sites would be properly coded and work with IE8.
