    Windows XP Start Up Issues

A couple of weeks ago I installed a new 500GB Western Digital hard drive. I used a program called Acronis to do an image copy from my WD 120GB hard drive. Since then but not all the time when I power my machine on it keeps rebooting and will not start. Then on another try it goes to the light blues screen and does a check disk and all seems good. Is there a way I can fix this? Does this have something to do with the drivers?
On another note I also have an Administrative account set up which I did not have when I had my 120GB hard drive. I had no problems at that time.
    Thanks for your help.

Refresh our memory. Is this that IDE to SATA transfer?

If so, you should do a repair install of XP. I mentioned on that thread that going from IDE to SATA could cause problems since the HALs are different.

You can also try updating your chipset drivers.

It ended up being IDE to IDE. I have looked at my Windows XP Disk and I do not see anything listed about repairs. Can you explain how I would do this repair.

The end result was that I re-formated my drive and started all over again. Now that I have a clean install everything is good.
