Windows easy transfer
I got a Belkin easy transfer cable and software.
So far it worked between xp (x86) and vista premium (X86).
I tried then from 7 (x64) to xp (x86) and 7 (x64) to vista (x86).
No go.
7 will recognise the cable but not any pc on the other end.
Is the problem between x64 and x86 or just with 7.
There is not much information available and belkin don't want to know about it

From Win 7's help file:
Which versions of Windows will work with Windows Easy Transfer?
You can use Windows Easy Transfer to transfer files and settings from a computer running Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7 to another computer running Windows 7.
I gather this to mean that you can't go backwards from a newer version of Windows to an older version.
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

That was always my understanding as well, it was intended for transferring stuff to your nice shiny new Vista (or Win7) PC.

I guess they haven't got the drivers sorted out in that case. It would be worth reporting as a bug.

Good point but... when the cable is pluged into any of the computers the software automatically comes on screen, Device manager shows the cable and drivers ok.
I will try today vista x64 to win7 x64.

Thought i would add some information i have from personal usage of easy transfer.
On both computers make sure that power management in usb properties is turned off.
If the transfer stops and there is a little flashing icon on the top right corner of each computer it means that it has stalled.
Look at the file on the computer that the transfer is comeing from and delete it and try again. I learned that windows easy transfer will not transfer corrupt files.
Or virus.
I found 19 virus in a computer i was transfering from. Once cleaned out transfer went ok.
It is better to transfer, for instance documents, for a start instead of the whole computer that way you will know where the corrupt file is.
