Ohhhh I didn't know the space between the c and the / mattered.
and I also never bought me a vista dvd,
I'm guessing that would fix any problems with my OS during the scan?

Yes, you need the dvd in order for the sfc /scannow to work properly. Make sure you're not trying to run sfc /scannow from a cmd prompt either.
If you had that dvd you could run a repair also and that would certainly fix your problems (that is if vista is broke enough to see you need a repair).

Ohhh ok!!
If I ever feel like getting a DVD I'll fix things up, but for now I think my computer will last.
