Can't Download IE8
Has anyone tried to D/L IE8? I have been trying for 5 hours on two different computers. The download will not start. Are they that busy or is the link broken? MS is usually pretty good about D/L large updates like IE and service packs. This one will just not start.

I downloaded it yesterday with no problems other than the read mail in the toolbar not working. It took about twenty minutes.

I do not understand what I can possible be doing wrong. I mean it's quite straight forward. Click the link and download. Just like I've done hundreds of times before. It's now almost 1400 and I have been trying on two computers since 0700.
No firewall here other than Windows which allows anything requested.

Already rebooted several times to no avail. I have no trouble downloading anything else. But the IE8 download simply will not start on either of two computers. Rebooted modem too.

After more than 7 hours of trying to download from MS download page I finally gave up. I went here and downloaded it first attempt.

I couldn't get to the 1st link either, but in my case, I knew why. For whatever reason, MS decided to run the link via atdmt.com
"http://clk.atdmt.com/MRT/go/141861415/direct/01/?href=http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=142198"
My HOSTS file blocks atdmt.com because they issue cookies that can follow your web travels...

I had the same problem. All I had to do was eliminate the first part of that URL, which left me with:And that link immediately started the download.

Yeah, that's what I did. I also went over to FileHippo and got it there too. (I checked the MD5 and both matched.)

atdmt.com is involved in several MS websites. For example http://download.live.com/wlmail will deposit an atdmt.com tracking cookie unless you have blocked atdmt.com either by HOSTS or using the IE Tools|Internet Options|Privacy settings.
I wonder what MS gets out of this relationship with a purveyor of tracking cookies. Disappointing.
