    LinuxMint

I've been running this distro for a couple of weeks now. Based on Ubuntu and comes preinstalled with all the codecs, sun java and a lot of other things that are usually kind of a struggle to get working. So it's basically ready to go right out of the box.

I tried Linux Mint a few months ago. I liked it fine, I just like Ubuntu better. I'm sticking with Version 8.04 for now basically because I've got everything set up just the way I want it.

I also have Ubuntu installed on a second hdd and I like it. I tried Kubuntu, but I like the desktop set up of Ubuntu, which is minimal but that is fine with me. I have my XP Pro installed on the other hdd and can easily go into Bios and switch hdd's when I want/need to use XP,

I have had a lot of fun building several Socket A systems and seeing what kinds of overclocking I can get out of the chip, and also having fun customizing some plain cases by adding more fans...etc. But...having to pay $130.00 or more for XP was the single most expensive part of the build.

Linux is FREE....and you can re-format & re-install as much as you want to and not have to worry about COA'S or any of that legal stuff.

I'm a long way from being proficient with Ubuntu so I still use XP quite a bit, simply because I'm just more familiar with XP and it was developed to be user friendly ( although some might argue that point... ).

Did I mention that Linux is FREE...!!

There are those who switch Linux distros a couple of times a week just to try them out. That's a little much to my way of thinking, I like to get one working right and stick with it.
