After using the drive cleaner .... which ATI driver, please?
bistro and Train: Thanks for the newer links, the mental support and the peace of mind in choosing to do this as a last resort in trying to fix that frapping $400 wasted ATI $$.
Question if I may?
Once I've cleaned the older ATI drivers OFF this thing, would you kindly confirm that this is the correct newer driver that I oughta install?
Look here if you would and double check my thinking please?:
http://downloads.guru3d.com/ATI-Cata...load-2193.html
XP, 32 bit with SP-3 is what I'm using.
The only hesitation I have is that when ATI 1st introduced the versions above 7.xxxx, it was for Vista (they confirmed that...after the fact, of course).
Altered since then.....some months ago.
I've got the newer card on order from newegg thanks to lgbpop, so I have 30 days to see for SURE that my X850XT Platinum is indeed fubared physically (or) is a driver/software problem.
Your confirmation would be mucho appreciated guys.
If this works, I'm $100 closer (if I ever get that rebate while I'm still alive) to buying what I really want :
A new machine with this smoker as the heart.
Man....... it's fun to dream.
Thanks again for the time guys, and anyone else who cares to add their $.02.

I scrolled down are read the resolved issues business and it looks like what I would at least try.
Remember, you do have drive sweeper, which I hope you do not need again.

SMILE and let us know if it worked..."Train"

Finally got the new Powercolor Card installed, up and running.
Just an FYI for those who assisted me.....
One Huge Thank You!
Looks somewhat better but needs the usual tweaking.
Off to bed. (whew)

** PowerColor REBATES ARE Theft By Deception **
I'm like most people who've been around the block on FRAPPING REBATES.

This one was: ANOTHER SCAM!
I KNOW because I have copies, and the original box it was cut from!........but Power Color Claims they didn't get the UPC code that I cut from the box 14 weeks ago, now gone forever......and I suspect they planned it that way.
So fellow VDR members:
I AM FINISHED with this Taiwanese ATI wannabe Company, and Shame on Newegg for even selling their Cr**
What does lil ol innocence newegg say?
" Send us what you sent them and we will review it."
It Doesn't Take anyone more idiotic than 38_evetS to determine.......There's ONLY 1) UPC Code per BOX!
I could care less if Newegg is a few bucks cheaper.
I'm NEVER.....EVER.....spending a single plug nickel at that piece of online 'puter store.
If you're a smart buyer, you'll do the same, or get sca-rued like I DID.

I HATE rebates - scam galore if you ask me.... nothing to do with Newegg or anybody else IMO - just a system thing....
Nimo N152B (AMD R5, W11H) and plenty of other legacy systems :-)
