    Resolved [RESOLVED] USB Hub/Card Reader

I have a Soyo model MS-PC-8100 Usb 2.0 Hub/12 in one card reader. Recently the card reader has stopped working. When I put in an SD card it will not read it and all of the other drive designations go away. When I take the SD Card out the other drive letters re-appear. I hooked up my cameras with a USB cable and plugged it into the USB hub and it reads the card fine. I have re-installed the drivers for the PC-8100 and I still get the same results. Can you please advise?

    Thanks for your help.

It sounds like a faulty card reader to me. Given how little they cost these days, I'd be inclined to just replace it.

You may be right about being faulty, however the problem is with a 4GB San Disk Ultra card. If I put in a 2GB San Disk Card the card reader part works. If I hook up my camera with a USB cable and plug it into the USB port with either card the contents come up.
I did un-install the driver and re-install it but that did not help. Is there something in my system that could be wrong?
    Thanks

Ah, in that case it may just be that the card reader does not recognise high capacity (SDHC) cards - I have a reader that doesn't. There is nothing to be done except replace it in that case as well

I have one in each camera case. End of my problem.

I actually have an SD Mate. I tried it with the San Disk Ulta 11 and it did not come up. The light does come on when I plug it in to the usb port. Then I tried my 1GB standard San Disk sd card and that worked. I did the same scenarion on my lap top and got the same results. As I sais before if I hook up my camera by usb all cards work fine.
Not sure what is up with the Ultra Cards.

A different SD Mate or the like?

    Those adapter do go bad.

It looks like the final result will be that I need to get a different reader for High Capacity cards.
Thanks for all of your help as always.
We can consider this issue resolved.
