    tcp/ip settings could cause a problem. As far as I know you receive a dynamic ip address from @home. This means you need to set the tcp/ip properties for the tab IP Address to obtain an IP automatically. Also disable DNS under the DNS tab. Also how many tcp/ip items show up in Network->Control Panel and what is listed next to each (ie TCP/IP-Dial-Up Adapter, etc.)

    Hi,
    it can be as simple as not having http:// before the autoconfiguration script adress in LAN settings

    or the configuration line may be missing.

    what if he had another ISP, it may have set itself back as standard connection...

    Compaq restore disk. Now that brings back some not so fond memories.
