Microsoft better do something for people whom bought Vista , either a free upgrade or a very cheap fair price because this is really BS , its what Vista should of been . Beside all that , I like IE beta 64 , it seem to be very quick .

TechARP.com, is reporting that Microsoft will offer free or discounted Windows 7 upgrades to users who buy Vista systems from July 1 until Windows 7 reaches general availability. Microsoft declined to comment on the TechARP posting, saying nothing more than "We often explore options with our partners for how we offer products, but we have nothing to announce at this time".

Microsoft and its partners desperately need Windows 7 to be a success. They must work together to deliver a flawless, painless path to Windows 7. The worst thing that could happen is a repeat of their bungled "Vista Capable" campaign. If they fail to get it right this time, we may well witness the beginning of a mass exodus away from Windows.

I meant the ones that paid 499 or whatever the price was at the beginning for Vista , they should be really tick off and I wouldn't blame them to be . If anything they should be the ones that should get it. At the moment its early , just have to wait and see what MS will do for them . The way W7 is now there no way is this a new OS , its a Vista face lift .

Snooker - keep im mind that many people really like Vista and haven't had Any problems with it. Discounts are always nice but aren't necessary

This is true Steve but how is MS right now with majority of the consumers ? Would you say most are happy with their purchase of Vista expectedly after when they see the final on W7 ? I don't know bud but I myself if I paid that much for Vista I would be very tick . Your right with some Vista user's , I myself never had any major problems with the sp1 version . I guess time will tell .

It's always been the same with computers though, from the beginning of time. As soon as you buy some shiny new hardware or software a better model/version comes along. I really doubt that MS will see Win7 as being any different to any other Windows release.

I do hope that MS will look at the pricing all the same, personally I always thought that Vista was too expensive. And Linux is a much more viable alternative to Windows now.

Something just came to my mind...
Vista works perfectly fine on my computer.
I've been playing with Windows 7 for about a month, and from what I can see, it's nothing more, than just slightly different Vista.
Why would I pay to upgrade to Win 7? For what gain?
Obviously, if I'll buy a new machine, it'll eventually come with Win 7, but to upgrade?

If you're running Windows 7 beta you found out right away it doesn't have an Email program. Thunderbird 3 Beta 1 installs and runs just fine.

I'm inclined to agree with you there Broni. Then again look at WinXP, there really weren't all that many differences from Win2000, if you ignore the eye candy, and look how successful that was. I couldn't get my wallet out fast enough when XP went on sale

I deliberatly did an upgrade into my main pc as i was gong to format it and pass it down the food chain.
Upgrade took 3 hours simply because there is so much on the hard drive.
Firstly 7 looks good.
Everything works.
The UAC has 4 levels now. It was by default on level 3. I changed it to level 1 and what happened was the gadgets would not load nor could i log into my server. I went up top level 2 and and gadgets came back and the server.The gadget is no longer a bar. The gadgets are single and you can put them anywhere you want.
If there are multiple open windows and you move one to the side it automaticlt resizes it self. If you move a minimised window to to the top of the screen it maximises. Good touch that. If you have multiple windows open and move the mouse pointer to the bottom right hand side of the screen the windows become invisi\able.
I did a performace check and it changed from the 5.7 i had down to 2.5. Because of the hard drive it says. (It is a sata 2).
7 is good and will be worth the upgrade

There's going to be a lot of surprised and sad people when the Beta expires in August. Just like last time....

NOTICE: When the beta expires, there will be a memorial service here at VDr at 1:00 PM EST. Train and SuperSparks will deliver the eulogy. VDr has asked that, in lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Sydney P. Fingerglut Windows 3.1 Memorial Fund...this charity is dedicated to get back to the simpler life and make Windows 3.1 once again the world standard for operating systems.

It took me a while, but now I know what I wanted to say.
In both cases:
2000 to XP, and
Vista to 7
the latter OSes, are simply little bit more user friendly.
Said that, for experienced computer user, I can't see, so far, anything in Win 7, what makes it better, than Vista.
Ughhhh....LOL
