AM2 & Ram
Hello all. I bought a AMD AM2 6000 X2 cpu. I also bought 4 gigs of Corsair Dominator memory DDR2 PC2 8500 1066MHz. My question is will this ram work with the cpu. It is my understanding that for this ram to run at full speed I needed a AM2+ cpu (DDR2 1066 is supported by AM2+). I think the ram will work but will only run at 800MHz. This is the board I want to get:

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!!!!

I am going to use my two 8600 GT OC GFX cards ( until GFX upgrade ) and 750 watt Corsair PSU and both 150 gig WD Raptors along with my Xfi sound card. I wish I had bought a little better mainboard. I have a X2 6000 here but New egg is going to let me rma it, it is brand new and never removed from box. How do you think this all going to work? thanks

I think the Gigabyte GA-MA790X-DS4 ($109.99) would give you more bank for your buck. It has the AMD 790X/SB600 chipset, which supports dual PCI-E 2.0 x16 CrossFireX, (the AMD 790FX/SB600 doubles that to Quad CrossFireX) and has most all the high-end features of the 790FX. If you don't mind an "Open Box" product from Newegg you might consider the "Asus M3A32-MVP Deluxe" (AMD 790FX/SB600) for $129.99.
Here's a feature-by-feature comparision:

The Board arrived today, all I am waiting for is the X4. So at this point I am going to go ahead with the upgrade and hope it performs. I am still not sure if I want to send the 6000X2 back or keep it for another build. thanks for the replies!!!!!!!!!!!
PS its going to be hard to part with this old Asus sli nforce 4 board and 4800 X2, it has served me well. maybe my son would like an upgrade. He is still running a Barton core 2800 on a Gygabyte board ( one of the most trouble free systems I have built ). I was building with Epox, all of them are still running. But went with Asus when Epox quit producing boards. I have been happy with Asus boards they are for the most part trouble free. I had to try and keep the cost down some on this upgrade ( chin music and all ), but something tells me I should have spent a little more for a better mainboard.
