Vista + nF3 boards
Is it correct that Vista will not work with nF3 boards?
I installed Vista x64 on my old pc to get the feel for it before taking the plunge and inastalling it on my main pc.
Things weren't too bad except for the fact that I could not get the vga driver to install. No matter how I did it, it cam up with error 43 in device manager.
I searched for other drivers with no success, so I decided to install the 32 bit version of Vista. Same problem.
I installed SP1 as well and that made no difference.
I read somewhere that Vista was not made for agp slot motherboards, but not sure if that is correct.
Have done a clean install of XP Pro again now and all is well with the world again.
I am entertaining the idea of buying a new Deneb 940BE with a DFI 790/750 board in the new year, so the above is not a biggy for me, but it would have been nice to be able to get the feel for Vista.
Now it's left a bad taste in my mouth.

For what it's worth. I'm running a nF3 AGP board and dual booting Vista Ultimate 32bit. Haven't had any problems yet, and it's been installed since March of this year.

Well, I don't know what is happening with mine then. The drivers appear to install ok with no errors, but when I reboot I keep getting the ATI drivers not installed message, plus the error in device manager.

Which ATI card? That makes a difference too. Older cards won't work.

That one is kind of old, crunchie. My Nvidia 6200 was just under the wire of being ok. I replaced it with a 7600GS. Might want to think about getting a different card if you still want to use Vista on that computer.
