Where did they go?
Switchboard operators
Key punch operators
Stenographers
A half century ago women (and that's not sexist; they were ALL women) with minimal education could get a job that was a cut above waitress in a greasy spoon. Where do they work today?
(Any one who answers "dancer in a topless bar" will get a lump of coal in their Christmas stocking).

The ones (that are still around) and I know personally and are an Executive Secretary, Sales, Accounting, Human Resources, Payroll, and another that's a CPA.

Some are still doing the same job. I know hard to believe.
Another works retail. While one makes more money as a grocery sales clerk. A lot went into that for the higher pay. Walked off as a exec secretary to running a cash register and got a $3 a hour pay raise. Do not blame her!
