MSODISUP.VXD Is a SYSTEM.INI file that is
needed to run windows.
If this message appears on the black screen during startup, with "press any key" and pressing key lets startup continue normally with no problems, then this is a file from a program that you uninstalled or deleted, and is still being called by Systen.ini, or the Registry. First open System.ini in Notepad or with Sysedit, search for file name, and if you find it, delete entire line. If it's not in System.ini then run Regedit, and find filename. Again delete line where found, continue search with F3, till it says finished. close regedit, and you should have no more error. However, if this message locks up startup and you can't continue, then post back with full details.

You would not have it, if it was uninstalled or never installed.
what is is for.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../cc751087.aspx
And extracted this from a old thread search found.
The file (23.889KB) can be extracted from the NET9.CAB file in the Win98 directory on the 98CD. (First AND Second Edition CD.) If you have winzip or similar on another machine you can use this to extract the file to a floppy. Then boot your machine into raw dos (Ctrl key on boot - Command Prompt Only) or use a bootdisk. Once you get the C:\> (or A:\>) prompt, switch floppy disks and type in;
copy/v a:\*.vxd c:\windows\system\vmm32
