Nero buffer
To all you nero folks, you convinced me to try Nero. A simple question, what does your experience tell you is an acceptable buffer figure. The 1st data burns I did yesterday all ran from between 92% and 98% on a burn of approximately 650 MB. This was a burn of program installers, maybe 40 folders making up that 650.
With Easy CD I would always stay above 98% except at the very beginning of the burn. Of course that could just be less representative figures than Nero.
Yamaha 4x4x16, 128 RAM, k62 333, Imation disks, Nero 5 with upgrade. Haven't tried an audio burn yet.
Thanks.

Looks good to me. Thats about where mine sits at (between 94% and 98%).
With Adaptec, when I had it, it would always be at 99 or 100. But Adaptec gave more coasters than usable cd's. Especially when burning data cd's.

Thanks Techman. But what will I use for picnics now to set drinks on and skip at the lake?

Your picnic should be the least of your worries
I've found Nero's buffer indicator to be extremely quick reacting. It is normal in regular use for the buffer to occasionally empty the "recorder end" a little quicker than the "hard drive end" fills up, simply because the filling has to stop when full. This effect is more noticable (at least for me, at 12x) when I burn files and folders as you have done, as opposed to burning an image. The Nero indicator seems to be more of an instantaneous reading, while the Adaptec is somewhat dampened to smooth out the "quivering".
Of course, the technical answer to your "what is an acceptable buffer level" question is "anything above zero"
But you'll never see anything like that with Nero, especially at 4x

Thanks NoBob, I was thinking that the reaction time might be pretty quick in comparison with Adaptec. I have to admit I still like some of the features of Easy Cd in terms of the drag and drop and the gui for showing MB increases as you ad files, etc.
I hope to get some time this weekend to try it with audio CD to CD and tape to CD using Goldwave.

You want something more graphic than the bar at the bottom of the Nero window that gets longer as you add files?
