    Another infection...possibly related to tdssserv.sys

    So recently I got the tdssserv.sys trojan which kept directing my google search results to random advertising pages. It also did the other things mentioned with it...not being able to update certain AVS and not being able to install certain AVS, as well as tremendously slowing down my internet. I looked around on the net and found that it was best (at least at the time I thought it was) to disable (not uninstall) tdssserv.sys via going through the Device Manager and then by restarting and running a virus scan. This seemed to work as now my google search results were normal and I could now update my AVS and install malwarebytes. I scanned my computer with malwarebytes and then superantispyware. Malwarebytes found tdssserv.sys and removed it, as well as some other cookies and other moderate/low risk items. However, I am still getting problems with CounterSpy (another virus scanner I use), as it will not update and it still doesn't think I am connected to the internet, and my internet speed does not seem to be at 100% still. So after spending too much time trying to search for the answers myself I decided it was time to come here and ask for help. Here are the HiJackThis log, MalwareBytes, Panda ActiveScan logs:

    I also took the liberty of running SDFix after I did the scan with SuperAntiSpyware to see if that would do anything and it did find a trace of the tdssserv.sys virus on my computer...here is that log as well:

    Try this too;

    Download
    SDFix
    and save it to your desktop.

    Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the
    following :
    • Restart your computer
    • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the
      Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
    • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
    • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
    • Choose your usual account.
    • In Safe Mode, right click the SDFix.zip folder and choose Extract
      All
      ,
    • Open the extracted folder and double click RunThis.bat to
      start the script.
    • Type Y to begin the script.
    • It will remove the Trojan Services then make some repairs to the
      registry and prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
    • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
    • Your system will take longer that normal to restart as the fixtool
      will be running and removing files.
    • When the desktop loads the Fixtool will complete the removal and
      display Finished, then press any key to end the script and load
      your desktop icons.
    • Finally open the SDFix folder on your desktop and copy and paste the
      contents of the results file Report.txt.

      Please post the SDFix log within CODE Tags.

      ================

      Please download ComboFix by sUBs from HERE or HERE
      • You must download it to and run it from your Desktop
      • Physically disconnect from the internet.
      • Now STOP all your monitoring programs (Antivirus/Antispyware, Guards and Shields) as they could easily interfere with ComboFix.
      • Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
      • When finished, it will produce a log. Please save that log to post in your next reply along with a fresh HJT log
      • Re-enable all the programs that were disabled during the running of ComboFix..

      Note:
      Do not mouse-click combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

      CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.

    Apart from running combofix 3 times when I never requested it, the log has been cut off so I cannot give a deliberation on whether your pc is clean or otherwise. What did combofix delete on it's first run? Do you have the first run log?

    I pretty positive it was only run twice. Not three times, but sorry about that. I guess the log got cut off when I posted it originally...here is the log:

    It was definitely run 3 times. In the log, the numeral in bold tells that:
    ComboFix 08-11-19.08 - Xkwizito 2008-11-20 15:00:37.3 - NTFSx86

    At least now the 2nd run log you just posted shows some items that were deleted

    ====

    • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on the Software icon > add/remove programs.
    • Search in the list for all previous installed versions of Java. (J2SE Runtime Environment.... )
    • Select it and click Remove.
    • Then Download and install the newest version from here:
    • http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

    ====

    Scan with HijackThis and then place a check next to all the following, if present:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,ShellNext = http://www.dell4me.com/mywaybiz

    O4 - Global Startup: Logitech SetPoint.lnk = ?
    O4 - Global Startup: WG111v2 Smart Wizard Wireless Setting.lnk = ?

    Now, close all instances of Internet Explorer and any other windows you have open except HiJackThis, click "Fix checked".

    ===============

    After rebooting, rescan with hijackthis and post back a new log. Please let me know how your pc is now.

    O4 - Global Startup: Logitech SetPoint.lnk = ? <----for my Logitech mouse settings

    I will remove the other two and uninstall the previous versions of Java though.

    I coulda sworn I only ran CF only 2 times because I only have 2 logs on my computer to show for it, sorry about that though...guess I was wrong. I will post the new HJT log when im done.
