    Windows Update Failure.

I have automatic Windows Update on. For the past few weeks I get the message that the following three updates are available.- see Windows Updates.

I then get - see Windows Updates 2

This happened about half a dozen times. If other updates are included in the batch, they install correctly.

    Thank you for your help.

    Thank you for prompt reply.
SpywareDr - wrote MS as you suggested.
Welshjim - I did look up the errors on both the MS site and Google. In all cases I could not find anything that applied to my case: example - "Catastrophic failure" -I don't think so. My system is working well in all respects, except for the nag fro WU.

I did notice the updates were 2007, but I recently re-installed my OS, so I thought there might be some left-overs from the installation.

Still in correspondence with the MS Tech. Prompt reply from them, and a suggestion, which unfortunately did not work. Problem still active with MS. Will post a solution when they send me one.

After the exchange of 9 e-mails with the MS Tech, and my sending him many pictures of error screens and various log files, and about three unsuccessful attempts to to install the two updates, my Tech came to the conclusion that one of the updates actually installed with an error.

Suggestion: un-install the offending update and clean install a fresh copy from the link he supplied. Done and it worked. I then installed the remaining recalcitrant update through WU, and that also worked.

    Sometimes perseverance pays.

Excellent! Not only is it good to hear the problem's been solved but, that you forced them to wade through at least one of the problems we see so frequently. Hopefully it will help make future updates a bit less likely to cause problems for the rest of us. Thanks!

No, Thanks to the Moderators and other contributors to this Forum that I persevered as long as I did, knowing that the Forum was my fall-back position. Thank you all for your help, in this and other matters over time.
