    Question Formatting Floppies, not working.

Lately, been trying to transfer old pics from a Mavica floppies to a Jump Drive from Floppies...Here's what happened: (Pardon me, it's in short hand):

Stick in disk (with pics on it) and dbl click on A first thing it tells her is that CAN'T read it needs to be formatted.

Need to format it (dont want to do that, because pics on it)

So I took a disk with pics I didn't care about...and attempted to do what the computer told me.

So...I did what it wants....so format it...

First tried the QUICK format or format

PICKED QUICK to get rid of the images (said : Cannot do a quick format)

Did a REGULAR format of the Floppy, doesn't start the bars...sat there sat there, sat there...bar moving across

Clicked to cancel, it said "cannot complete format at this time".

I blew air out of it one time, it worked for a while...but then started back up again.

I was wondering if it was the floppy drive getting bad

Or maybe a virus (probably NOT likely though)?

Sounds like an older, out-of-alignment floppy drive. Cheapest solution is to replace it. Internals start at $7.99 at Newegg:

They work but, older computers will not be able to boot from them.
