    Exclamation RAM Question

I have a question about RAM,

Well I am going to upgrade soon to 4GB because 1GB and vista really just like to take up all the RAM I have..

    Now right now I have just Fire Fox open with 2 tabs. and I go right click task manager.. I have;

789MB used(about)... 1013 total... 308 Cached? and 14 free, well now it say's 7.. then 8... so it's basically staying below 15.. witch is bad right??

now, what in the world is Cached?? It's taking all my RAM!!!!!!

Can someone help me speed things up a bit??

    Reminder,
If intending to upgrade to 4 GB of memory,
Double check memory expansion slots available for the notebook in question.

Notebook memory requirements are usually more finicky than desktops/workstations as well...

    Yup I know that, 2 2GB!

I did have a problem recently though,

    I ordered 2 2GB, Kingston brand DDR2, everything checks out 100% compatible...

plug them in, put battery in, plug er up and turn it on getting a wonderful blue screen error....

Plug them into my brothers computer, another computer compatible with the DDR2, and it turned on but within 3 seconds it quickly shut down.

    Defect?

either way, I'm taking it back, going to circuitcity with my laptop, and getting my memory there.

Be aware, laptop memory is called SO-DIMM not the same as desktop which is simply called DIMMs. Make sure you get the SO-DIMMs.

When you get to circuit city, they'll probably know this. It's still DDR2 but in the above type.

    Has your problem been resolved?

Have you tried the online configurator to find the right memory needed for your system/s?
