Some questions:
Is this the first wireless device you are trying to get connected with your 2wire router? Posting the model number of the router would help.
Is that a WEB key (with a "B" as in "Bob") or a WEP key (with a "P" as in Paul)? If it is the latter, then you should know that WEP encryption has been cracked. If your router and laptop wireless adapter supports it, you should be using WPA or WPA2 encryption.
The usual method to get wireless networking running is to set it up initially with no encryption, make sure it is working, then change the settings on the router to use the encryption method and key, then change the laptop settings to match.
