Yahoo messenger bugs or Windows messenger bugs?
Hi
Is there any difference in security on yahoo or windows messengers?
I only use it to chat with a couple distant relatives, no file sharing.
Right now i only have windows messenger, on Vista home premium 32 bit
with ca av in the messenger. What about Aim also?
thanks

I don't use IM but I follow the general security of these kinds of things on the web. For the most part, if you keep the IM apps up to date, don't download files or click on links in IMs, you should be safe.
That said, there some multi-platform IM apps that tend to run a bit safer than the better known ones (mainly because they aren't as big of a target for hackers.)
Pidgin http://www.pidgin.im/
Miranda http://www.miranda-im.org/
And the free version of Trillian Basic http://www.ceruleanstudios.com/
