hambone2--Not bad. It is not one of the best antimalware programs, but it does not interfere with other such programs, so it does not hurt to install it. So be sure to have first class antivirus and antispyware programs installed as well. Recommendations for these are available in other posts on VDr.

Somewhere between Spybot S&D and Malwarebytes. I'd give it a 7/10.
Spybot a 6 and Malwarbytes a 9.5. I don't believe there's a 10 out there. None of these programs are,or really could be perfect but Malwarebytes, in my opinion, may be the best antispyware scanner available right now.

I don't use Spybot anymore, but if you do, I'd recommend not to use TeaTimer. There are number of of posts, where it seems to be interfering with normal Windows operations.
I don't use Defender, either.

IMO, Defender's strength is it's real-time monitoring. It does a decent job watching some key areas of Windows. I don't feel quite as warm and fuzzy about it's ability to scan on demand and find/kill adware and spyware.
Overall, as the others have said, it's worth a recommendation. We run it on all our PCs at work...
