    pc freezing with screensaver

I have a computer here that likes to freeze once the screensaver kicks in (or at least that is my theory) since when you go to try and use it the mouse doesn't work and the keyboard doesn't work. Now is this basically a Microsoft thing or is there something one can do to maybe fix this.
    win 98/celery 400/64 mb ram..
I know these days you don't really need a screensaver but he is a principal at a school and doesn't want little eyes seeing what he is doing if he leaves or forgets to minimize.

If you are referring to the standard Windows Screen Savers, then this is most definitely not normal. Some 3rd party savers can get finicky, but for the most part the windows screen savers are pretty well behaved.

Ask him if he notices a difference between the 2d and 3d screen savers, at least that will give us a start.

    Thanks Snarkie,

Screensavers are run of the mill, come as you are Windows screensavers. Am running tests with him right now with both 2d and 3d screensavers.

all there are for screensavers are the 3d ones and the channel screen saver. have tested both and left on for 15-20 each and they worked fine. Sort of like when you go to the mechanic wih a loose muffler belt and it works fine for him

With that combo (Win 98/C 400/64mb) I'm wondering if it might not just be a memory problem. Too many apps running in the background; minimized windows, etc.
