Lcd Monitor
I have been looking for a lcd monitor for awhile and still didn't buy one. I think the colors look more vivid in the glossy screens vs. the matte screens. Does anyone have a glossy lcd monitor? I would like to hear feedback on anyone who has one. Pros? Cons? Any feedback on models of lcds that others have and like would be cool too. I am not sure what specs I need to get for a nice monitor. I am looking for 21" or 22" screen.

IMHO, glossy is okay if there is absolutely no possibility of reflections from the glare of windows or lights. Otherwise, get the matte.
Dell has some nice 22" monitors:

Ditto Spyware Dr....I have the HP2207 which has a glossy surface. Colors are fantastic, but I have it on my desk down in the basement and situated so I get minimal reflection off it. I do have some reflection on mine, but I don't really notice it when working. If you have lamps or a brightly lit window behind you then you may have problems. If you have a pane of glass around, put a black piece of construction paper behind it and sit at your computer desk, Hold it up to where the monitor will be and check for reflections....that'll give you a clue as to what to expect. Just remember that some of those reflections will be drowned out by white or light colors on the screen.

If anyone has the HP w2207 22" monitor, I would like to hear feedback on it.
Also, my video card is Nvidia Geforce fx 5200 ultra. Does this card support HDMI connector? The HP w2207 has this type of connector. What is the difference between DVI and HDMI connectors? Is there much difference in quality of video? I am still confused on which monitor to buy. Any other feedback would be helpful.

One of the worse video cards ever made.
I highly recommend replacing it.

Post the make and model of your computer or the make and model of the motherboard if it is a home/custom built computer.

It is a home built computer. My MB is the Asus A7N8X deluxe.
Any thoughts on the HP w2207 lcd monitor? Anyone who has it or knows anything about that model, is it worth buying? I don't know which lcd monitor to buy either but I do think I want the glossy screens because the colors appear lifelike.

As I mentioned in my post above, that's the monitor I use. I quote myself:
I have the HP2207 which has a glossy surface. Colors are fantastic, but I have it on my desk down in the basement and situated so I get minimal reflection off it. I do have some reflection on mine, but I don't really notice it when working. If you have lamps or a brightly lit window behind you then you may have problems. Be aware that there are two versions of this monitor: the w2207 and the w2207h. The former version has only a VGA and DVI connnection. The latter version has a VGA and HDMI connection (no DVI). I didn't put the full model name in my post above, but I have the w2207h and use a DVI to HDMI cable (DVI at the graphics card to the HDMI port on the monitor).
There's not that much difference in the vid quality between DVI and HDMI. The main difference is that HDMI can carry audio as well as video.

I happened to see this at newegg today. I am not recommending this 19" LCD but just its price is great. It may very well be a good monitor. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...L0A-_-24236029

What specs should I be looking for to get a nice decent lcd monitor? Somone told me that you can't see a visible difference of anything that is over 1000:1 contrast ratio from a monitor that has 1000:1 ratio.
